We love travelling, so we decided to start a world tour of local pop music scenes and bring you back a fine selection of songs in vernacular languages. To begin this long and soothing journey, we have stopped over in Iceland where bewitching fairies were waiting for us. góða ferð.

If you want to find out more about icelandic music, I recommend you check these indie labels out : 12 Tónar (Pétur Ben, Hafdis Huld, Jóhann Jóhannson…) & Smekkleysa (Björk, Sigur Ros, Gus Gus…). There is also a section dedicated to icelandic music which can be accessed through the Links of this blog.
Finally, the best way to listen to icelandic musicians is to go to the biggest music festival in Iceland, called the Iceland Airwaves, which is held each year in October in downtown Reykjavik.
